Making Mother’s Day Special What makes Mother’s Day special – To me it is spending time with my family. When my kids were little they would make me breakfast in bed and they would be so excited and proud. I would receive a hand made personal card and sometimes with a poem. The rest of the day they would want to cook with me and of course baking. I would select a meal that would be easy for us to make together but the best part was the chocolate cake. For some reason I always cleaned the mess but the memories I still hold are priceless.
Here are my tips to make entertaining easy for Mother’s day! Letting mom enjoy her day.
If dad and the kids are planning company for Mother’s day make sure the house is clean and make a list before going to the grocery store. Select a menu that is easy and mom doesn’t need to be involved (too much)!!
My advice: If you are planning this for her – do not ask questions! Let the kids make up a song or play for the moms to enjoy. Pick wildflowers and let the kids decorate the table. Don’t be shy about using throwaway plates. You know mom will be cleaning later! Ways to pamper Mom… Set up an in-home spa for her with candles and flowers Handmade poems or pictures for mom Indulge her with strawberries dipped in chocolate Buy her something she has been mentioning for a while but didn’t want to spend the money to get it for herself Pick flowers and bring her home a bouquet to enjoy Go to your local boutique – They will help you! (they may even know her)
Let mom choose what she wants to do! Maybe garden, take the family to grandmas house or go to the local farmers market. What ever it is – enjoy the day with her, be helpful and loving!
Most of all just spend time with mom! No matter how young or old you are - she just wants to spend time together! xo
